The Research Group 1 of Coastal Oceanography and Environmental Management , of the Department of Marine Sciences (School of Environment,
University of Aegean) covers the subjects of coastal oceanography and geology,
coastal morphodynamics, the construction/application of coastline change models,
the record of the beaches and their spatial characteristics though the application of
Geographical Information Systems, the analysis of satellite data and finally of socio-
economic studies of the coastal zone.

The Research Group 2 of Environmental Hydrology and Statistics, of the
Department of Statistics and Actuarial - Financial Mathematics and the Department of Marine Sciences covers the subjects of integrated management of drainage basins and coastal environment, sea level changes due to extreme events, the development
of riverine sediment flows models and the statistical analysis of environmental data.
